Answering the need for a compact laptop and long battery life, there is a product called ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325).
This laptop is a premium laptop that offers comfort and qualified productivity support. Moreover, the Zenbook series is known as a premium ASUS laptop, which has no doubt of its quality.
That claim is not arbitrary. I have reviewed the ASUS Zenbook series several times. An example is the ASUS Zenbook 13 UX333FA which is indeed attractive, both in terms of specifications and in terms of the price offered.
The problem is that laptops are old enough. The processor used is the 8th generation Intel Core i. And of course, for 2020, laptops on the market should already come with the latest generation of Intel Core I, the 10th generation Intel Core i.
This is offered by the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325). But of course, the advantage of a laptop is not just the processor but also many other things. What are these things? Let’s just look at the discussion about the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) laptop below.

Design Body and Keyboard
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) offers a distinctive design that has always existed in the previous Zenbook 13 series. One of them is the circular design on the back which ASUS calls “Zen”.
This time the circular shape is more towards the side where the ASUS logo is located.
As for the materials, this laptop offers aluminum alloy material which is formed with a very precise diamond-cut design. The actual design concept is interesting but the overall appearance of the design and finishing of this laptop tends to be ordinary.
Ordinary because maybe for me personally, this Zenbook design feels a bit boring. But for other consumers, especially those who haven’t tasted the Zenbook design, this laptop design looks attractive and beautiful.
The impression of an expensive laptop is strong enough from this laptop. It’s just that nothing looks special. What’s interesting about a design laptop is not how it looks but how thin it is.
This laptop is only 1.39 cm thick. Thinner than the ASUS Zenbook 13 UX333FA which offers a thickness of 1.69 cm.
With a very small height or thickness, it doesn’t make the laptop feel claustrophobic with ports. The existing USB port only offers 1 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type 1 on the right. This port competes with a MicroSD card reader.
While on the right, attend a port HDMI and 2 port USB-C Thunderbolt 3. The presence of USB-C Thunderbolt 3 so the added value for the port is fairly multifunctional.
In addition to the use of chargers, USB-C Thunderbolt 3 can be used to connect with external display devices that support 4K UHD resolution. Additionally, USB-C Thunderbolt 3 offers transfer rates of up to 40 Gbps.
The most interesting thing is of course the Thunderbolt 3 support on this laptop to connect with an external graphics card. By installing an external graphics card, ZenBook 13 (UX325) can be used for heavier work, such as playing games or for video editing needs and more advanced 3D designs
The presence of 1 USB 3.0 might feel less for those of you who need more USB ports. In addition, the absence of an audio jack and LAN port can be of particular concern. But this is tricked by additional connector devices in the form of a USB-C dongle to audio jack dongle and a USB-A to LAN dongle.
The limited availability of a USB 3.0 port makes sense. Because this laptop actually offers compactness and is intended for high mobility. There’s no need to use an additional keyboard and mouse either because ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) offers a comfortable keyboard and touchpad.
The touchpad that is presented on this laptop is quite precise and multifunctional. Why is it multifunctional? Because the touchpad on this laptop can function as a Numpad. Even the functions can be performed simultaneously.
However, based on my experience using this laptop, the Numpad function is quite annoying because often when typing or navigating using Numpad, the number is often depressed. I often turn off the Numpad function to make it more flexible.
Because I rarely work using numerical calculations, so I ignore this function. Of course, for those of you who often work typing with numbers, this function can be useful.
I am even happier with the keyboard on this laptop. The ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) keyboard offers a comfortable keyboard to use for typing. Thanks to the 1.4 mm travel distance, typing on this keyboard is more comfortable. In addition, this keyboard offers a relatively bright backlit which makes typing comfortable in dark conditions.
In fact, this is arguably the Zenbook with the most comfortable keyboard I’ve ever used. Moreover, ASUS presents a keyboard on this laptop with an edge-to-edge keyboard concept.
Simply put, the concept of an edge-to-edge keyboard is a concept that allows the keyboard to be presented to both sides of the body. This makes the keyboard format wider and the keys larger. The keyboard function is complete with the power button that is attached to the keyboard.
One more thing, this Zenbook still presents the Ergolift keyboard design concept. This concept makes typing more comfortable because the main body of ZenBook 13 (UX325) is raised and forms a three-degree angle when in use.
This feature is worth maintaining because it provides a more comfortable typing experience when on a table. Moreover, this concept makes the laptop feel more ergonomic.
In addition, this concept makes the laptop body lifted and leaves an air cavity so that the circulation of this laptop becomes better and better.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) is similar to the ASUS Zenbook 13 UX333FA which only offers hinge or hinge that is not up to 180 degrees. However, this is not a big problem because the concept offered is convenient for typing.
In addition, the concept presented by this laptop is compact. Not just a simple claim because this laptop is really compact thanks to the weight of 1.07 kg. In fact, ASUS claims that this laptop is the most compact laptop with complete I / O Ports.
The light weight of this laptop is indeed a distinct advantage. It was proven when I easily held this laptop with one hand. In fact, carrying this laptop feels very light in the bag.
With a design that is classified as light and compact, it clearly makes this laptop very comfortable to carry around. It is suitable for you, professionals or anyone who needs a laptop with a compact design, complete enough port, and easy to carry anywhere.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) offers a 13-inch screen. With a technology called NanoEdge Display, this laptop doesn’t feel like a laptop with a 13-inch screen. Looks compact and light indeed.
NanoEdge Display technology is certainly what makes this laptop body capable of presenting a 13-inch screen. Thanks to this technology, this laptop has a compact body, even smaller than A4 paper.
NanoEdge Display technology also makes this laptop able to present a full screen with a thin bezel. The screen bezel can appear so thin that it has a screen-to-body ratio of up to 88%.
Fortunately, this thin screen bezel still leaves the 3D IR camera at the top. This 3D IR camera supports Windows Hello which makes the Windows entry process faster.
Thanks to this Windows Hello feature, the process of entering Windows doesn’t have to bother typing a password. Just let ZenBook 13 (UX325) scan your face quickly and easily.
The screen sector on this laptop also has various advantages. This laptop screen offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen has an IPS level panel which of course provides a good screen viewing angle.
ASUS itself claims that this laptop screen is capable of presenting a brightness level of up to 450 nits. In fact, this brightness level can be achieved with just 1 watt of power so that this laptop battery life is more durable.
The ZenBook 13 (UX325) display also offers good, rich, and excellent color accuracy. This is natural because this laptop has 100% sRGB support so that it can produce color displays with good accuracy.
This processor comes with a 10nm fabrication process which certainly provides even better power efficiency. Based on information from CPU-Z, this processor has a TDP of only 15 Watts. The processor that is owned is 4 cores with 8 threads. The processor speed is 1.3 GHz with a maximum speed of 3.9 GHz.
Then, what about the performance of this laptop? For performance, this laptop offers relatively high performance. In the PCMark 10 test, this laptop got a score of 4,345, a fairly high score.
Compare this with the performance of the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX362 which uses the Intel® Core ™ i7-8565U, the eighth generation of Intel Core i. In PCMark 10 testing, the laptop only got a score of 3,661.
From this comparison, it is clear that the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) with Intel Core i7 1065G7 has a very good performance increase.

Similar results are also shown from the Cinebench R15 results. In the Cinebench R15 tests that I did repeatedly, the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) scored 630 and tends to be stable in the 600s although it occasionally drops a bit. But generally stable. For details, you can see the image below.
While the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX362 has a Cinebench R15 score of 621 CB. After that, in testing up to 12 times, the score is at 419 CB or around that number on other tests.
This shows that the performance of the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) looks more stable and faster even though the clock speed is a little low. Keep in mind, the Intel Core i7 1065G7 has a clock speed of 1.3 GHz while the Intel® Core ™ i7-8565U has a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. Both processors offer 4 core 8 threads.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) is not equipped with an additional graphics card. This is normal because this laptop is not a gaming laptop and offers a more compact design. The addition of a graphics card will actually make the laptop design heavier.
The absence of an additional graphics card does not mean that this laptop’s performance is normal. The reason is, this laptop is equipped with an integrated graphics card called Intel Iris Plus Graphics.
This Intel Iris Plus Graphics is an Intel UHD development graphics processor which is clearly better performance. This is shown by the 3D Mark Time Spy score which reached 671.
While in the Cinebench R15 test for graphics, Intel Iris Plus Graphics on this laptop was able to show a satisfactory fps score. Check out the following graph of the test results.
It can be seen that in fifteen tests, the fps results show numbers in the range of 60 fps. If you experience a decrease, it’s generally not too far from 60 fps.
This score is clearly better than the Intel UHD in the Intel Core i7-8565U. In the Cinebench R15 OpenGL benchmark test for the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX362 using an Intel Core i7-8565U, the results were only 40 fps.
With a higher performance than Intel UHD, Intel Iris Plus Graphics clearly offers relatively reliable performance. Interestingly, despite the higher performance, the Intel Iris Plus GPU still comes with a very low power consumption.

To play games? Relying on Intel Iris Plus Graphics is definitely not a wise choice when compared to laptops with additional graphics cards. But in terms of performance for popular lightweight games, this graphics card is quite reliable.
Hard drive performance
I always say “No SSD No Party”. Obviously for a laptop that is quite premium, the presence of an SSD is very mandatory. In fact, affordable class laptops have also used a lot of SSDs.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) itself offers NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 type SSD. On the laptop that I am reviewing, the capacity that is owned is 512 GB. The use of SSD clearly makes the performance of this laptop faster and boots Windows faster.
For the performance of the SSD on this laptop, I used CrystalDisk Mark. The results are as follows.
The SSD on this laptop turns out to have a read speed of 2,272 MB / s. Meanwhile, the write speed is 1,329 MB / s. The speed of this SSD is quite high.
However, a somewhat different result is shown from the Novabench benchmark. In the Novabench test, the SSD on this laptop was rated for a read speed of 1,404 MB / s and a write speed of 1,215 MB / s.
It is rather interesting to see the results from Novabench because the reading speed is quite low when compared to the CrystalDisk Mark results. But in everyday use, the SSD speed is actually very fast.
Oh well, Novabench also features a CPU score of 1,127 and a GPU of 227. For comparison, the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX362 has a Novabench CPU score of 922 and GPU 203. Obviously, newer processors and better graphics processors show better scores.
As for RAM, the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) offers dual-channel RAM of 16 GB. For today’s needs, this 16 GB capacity is very good.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) offers a variety of other interesting features. One of them is the presence of the Link to MyASUS application. Link to MyASUS is an app that includes tons of ASUS apps and tools to help you get the most out of your ZenBook 13.
Link to MyASUS is very easy to use and supports integration of an iOS or Android phone with your laptop.
In addition, the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) qualifies as a Project Athena laptop. Project Athena is a term for a future sophisticated laptop. Laptops with Project Athena must meet certain requirements, such as battery life, fast processors, large RAM, SSD, and various other features.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) also meets United States military standards . With MIL-STD 810G certification, this laptop has passed various military tests. An example is the endurance and function tests at altitudes of up to 15,000 feet. In fact, this laptop can be operated in low temperatures, which is up to -33 degrees Celsius.
ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325) offers long battery life. ASUS claims that this battery life can last up to 22 hours. That claim is not an exaggeration because I can use this laptop all day long for typing and the internet.
Based on my usage, this laptop only consumes 18% battery charge in one hour. These results are obtained with a battery condition: better battery and a brightness level that is almost full. If the screen brightness is lower, the battery life will be longer
Apart from that, this laptop supports fast charging. From the results of my experience when charging, this battery can be charged 62% in one hour. The battery condition at that time was 12%. Within 30 minutes, the battery was 44%. Meanwhile, within an hour, the battery becomes 74%.
One last thing I like about this laptop is the audio. The audio quality of this laptop is really good so it makes me comfortable listening to music or watching videos from this laptop.
Of course the advantages of this laptop are not only from the audio but also from the others. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325).
The advantages of ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325)
- Very compact body design
- Has MIL-STD 810G certification
- 100% sRGB display with small bezel
- CPU and GPU performance is fast and can fulfill various productive tasks
- 3D IR Camera with Windows Hello for fast login.
- Very long battery life
- White backlit keyboard
- The audio quality is okay
- Project Athena laptop
- I / O Ports complete with Thunderbolt 3
Lack of ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325)
- Only one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port
- There is no audio jack port (maybe it was the era of BlueTooth)
- Luxurious design but tends to be a bit bored in each series
I could just put Numpad as a drawback. But the Numpad on the touchpad on this laptop can be useful for other people. Especially for those who often work with numbers.
With the many advantages offered by the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX325), it is clear that this laptop is very worthy of choosing. Especially for those of you who need a laptop with tough capabilities, long battery life, durability, and most importantly support your productivity.
