When discussing movies, video games, and books on the Internet, it is considered polite to avoid giving out main plot points. These main plot points are called spoilers – so named because they spoil a surprise for users who haven’t experienced a movie, game, or book. To keep plot points hidden on 4Chan’s message boards, you can use the “spoiler” tag, which creates a black background behind words and phrases. The black background effect combined with the black text makes the “spoiler” unreadable unless you place your cursor over the text or highlight it.

Step 1

Launch your web browser, and navigate to the 4Chan website.

Step 2

Click to select a board from the “Board” listing area.

Step 3

Click the “Reply” link next to the first comment or image that appears in any post.

Step 4

Type your name in the “Name,” “Email,” and “Subject” information in the text fields that appear.

Step 5

Tap “spoiler” in the comments section to open the spoiler tag.

Step 6

Type the words you want to show as black text on a black background.

Step 7

Type “/ spoiler” to close the spoiler tag.

Step 8

Click “Submit” to submit the post.
